Choose Your Starting Point
Every Morocco On Tour itinerary starts somewhere real — a city where you land, meet your driver-guide, and set off toward the mountains, the coast, or the desert. Pick the one that matches your arrival city below, and we’ll shape the rest of the trip around it.

Marrakech
The Red City is Morocco’s most popular gateway to the south, and our most requested starting point. From here, tours reach the golden dunes of Merzouga and Zagora, the fortified kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, and the passes of the High Atlas.
Best for: first-time visitors who want souks, palaces and desert dunes in one trip.

Fes
Morocco’s spiritual and cultural capital, home to the world’s largest car-free medina. Fes is the classic start for our Sahara loop routes through the Middle Atlas cedar forests and the Ziz Valley, whether you return to Fes or continue on to Marrakech.
Best for: travelers drawn to history, craftsmanship and a genuine medina experience.

Casablanca
Morocco’s largest city and main international airport, Casablanca is where the majority of international flights land. From here, our tours connect the Atlantic coast to the imperial cities and the desert beyond, usually routed through Rabat and Fes.
Best for: travelers landing on an international flight who want to head straight into a full circuit.

Rabat
Morocco’s elegant seaside capital, home to the Hassan Tower and the fortified Kasbah of the Oudayas. Tours from Rabat combine the capital’s UNESCO-listed sites with easy routes south towards Fes, the Middle Atlas and the Sahara beyond.
Best for: a calmer, less touristy start before heading into the desert circuit.

Tangier
Perched where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, Tangier is Morocco’s historic gateway from Europe, reachable by ferry from Spain in under an hour. Tours from Tangier head south through the Rif Mountains and the imperial cities, all the way to the Sahara.
Best for: travelers arriving by ferry from Spain, or combining Morocco with an Andalusia trip.

Ouarzazate
Known as the “Door to the Desert” and Morocco’s own film capital, Ouarzazate sits closer to the Sahara than any other major city. Tours from here are the fastest, most direct route into the dunes of Merzouga and the wilder desert around Ouzina.
Best for: travelers short on time who want to reach the desert quickly.

How to Choose the Right Morocco Itinerary
Length. Two to three days is enough to reach the Merzouga dunes from Marrakech, Fes or Ouarzazate, but a lot of that time is spent on the road. Five to eight days lets you add the imperial cities, the Atlas mountains and the kasbahs at a comfortable pace, while ten to fifteen days covers the country from the Atlantic coast to the Sahara.
Season. Autumn, from September to November, is one of the best times for a desert tour. Read why in our guide: Why Autumn Is Morocco’s Best Season for a Desert Tour.
Travelling with children. Our family itineraries use shorter driving days and add activities for younger travelers, such as 10 Days Morocco Family Tour from Marrakech.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are your Morocco tours private?
Yes. Our itineraries are private tours, so you travel with your own driver-guide and only your own group, and you set the pace.
Which city is the best starting point for a Morocco tour?
Start where you arrive. Casablanca is where most international flights land, Tangier suits travelers coming by ferry from Spain, Marrakech and Fes are the classic starting points for desert routes, Rabat offers a calmer start, and Ouarzazate is the quickest way into the dunes.
How many days do I need to see the Sahara desert?
You can reach the Merzouga dunes in as little as two days, but a longer trip leaves more time to enjoy the journey. With five days or more you can combine the desert with the kasbahs, the Atlas mountains and the imperial cities.
Can I customise a Morocco itinerary?
Yes. Every tour can be adapted to your arrival city, your dates and the experiences that matter most to you. Send us your plans with the form below and we will adjust the route.
