Our 2 Nights Desert Tour from Ouarzazate is a private, round-trip journey into the Sahara, starting and ending in Ouarzazate. Over 3 days you’ll cross the Valley of Roses and the Dades and Todra gorges, spend a night camel trekking and camping among the dunes of Merzouga, then push further into the wilder, less-visited desert around Ouzina before looping back.
This tour is ideal if you’re based in Ouarzazate and want a fuller taste of the Sahara Desert than a single overnight allows, without needing to arrange transport onward to Fes or Marrakech. If you’d rather continue on to Merzouga one-way instead of looping back, take a look at our 2 Days Ouarzazate to Merzouga Desert Tour.

Day 1: Ouarzazate → Skoura → Valley of Roses → Dades Valley → Todra Gorges → Merzouga
Your driver-guide picks you up from your hotel or riad in Ouarzazate in the morning. We first head to Skoura, a vast palm oasis dotted with historic kasbahs, including the impressive Kasbah Amridil, for a short walk through traditional irrigation channels and Berber architecture.
We continue through the fragrant Valley of Roses around El Kelaa M’Gouna, especially beautiful in spring when the Damascus roses bloom. From there we climb into the Dades Valley, known for its unusual rock formations and lush terraces, with a stop at a scenic viewpoint over the gorge.
After lunch, we continue to the spectacular Todra Gorge, where the Todra River has carved a dramatic canyon between towering red cliffs — time to walk into the gorge on foot before continuing towards the desert.
In the late afternoon we arrive at the golden dunes of Merzouga. A camel trek takes you across the dunes, with a stop atop a high dune to watch the sunset, before reaching your desert camp for a Berber dinner with drumming and dancing around the campfire.
Driving Distance: 350 km | Duration: ~6 hours
Day 2: Merzouga Desert → Nomads → Mifis → Khamlia → Ouzina
Rise early to watch the sunrise from the top of a dune, then head back for breakfast and return to the hotel by camel or 4×4. We continue by 4×4 to meet desert nomads and share tea with them, before heading to the abandoned mining village of Mifis, once an important mining site that now offers superb panoramic views over old shafts and trenches.
Next we arrive in Khamlia, home to the Gnawa, musicians of sub-Saharan descent, who welcome us with music, dance and mint tea — the “Berber whisky.” We continue towards Taouz along the old Paris–Dakar Rally track for a typical Berber lunch, then follow the same track to your accommodation in the Ouzina desert, a wilder and much less-visited stretch of the Sahara.
Hotel night in Ouzina with dinner and breakfast.
Day 3: Ouzina → Rissani → Erfoud → Tinghir → Dades Valley → Ouarzazate
After a relaxed breakfast in Ouzina, we drive to Rissani, an ancient caravan hub and birthplace of Morocco’s Alaouite dynasty, worth a stop for its old walls and lively souk. We continue to Erfoud, known for its fossil and marble craft workshops.
From there we retrace the scenic road back through Tinghir and the Dades Valley, with a final stop for photos before continuing to Ouarzazate, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or riad by early evening, marking the end of your 2 Nights Desert Tour from Ouarzazate.
Driving Distance: 380 km | Duration: ~6.5 hours
