Your desert adventure begins after breakfast in Fes, where your driver-guide will meet you at your riad or hotel. Heading south, you’ll pass through the Saiss plains, soon arriving at the alpine town of Ifrane—often dubbed the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its clean streets and European-style chalets. Next, you’ll wind through the cedar forests of Azrou, where you can stop to feed and photograph Barbary macaques.
Continuing through the Middle Atlas, you’ll arrive in Midelt, nestled between mountain ranges and known for its apple orchards and mining heritage. After a lunch break here, your journey continues south through the stunning Ziz Valley, a ribbon of green palm groves and fortified kasbah villages spread along the river.
As the terrain flattens and turns golden, the Sahara Desert begins to appear. You’ll arrive in Merzouga by late afternoon and check into your desert lodge situated on the edge of the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes. Enjoy a hearty dinner and a relaxing night in your quiet lodge as you prepare for your camel adventure tomorrow.

Day 2: Merzouga → Khamlia → Erg Chebbi Camel Trek → Sahara Camp
After a leisurely breakfast, the morning begins with a cultural visit to the village of Khamlia, home to a community of Gnawa people, descendants of Sub-Saharan slaves. You’ll be welcomed with mint tea, live traditional music, and the chance to try the famous Berber pizza—a Sahara specialty.
You can then choose to relax at your lodge or take an optional quad bike or buggy ride across the vast dunes of Erg Chebbi—perfect for adrenaline lovers. In the late afternoon, your camel caravan will be waiting to take you on a mesmerizing trek through the dunes just as the sun begins to set over the sands.
Arrive at your desert camp, where you’ll be welcomed with mint tea and dinner. Spend the evening around the campfire, enjoying Berber music and stargazing under one of the clearest skies in the world. Your luxury tent will provide a warm, comfortable night in the heart of the desert.
Day 3: Merzouga → Taouz → Nomads exploration → Ouzina Desert
Rise early to witness the mesmerizing sunrise over the dunes, then return to the lodge for breakfast and a shower. Begin your off-road desert adventure in a 4×4 vehicle, starting with a visit to the Taouz region.
We will journey even deeper into the desert, driving south to Taouz, the last town before the Algerian border. From here, we follow a segment of the Paris-Dakar Rally route, past prehistoric rock carvings and nomadic Berber settlements.
By evening, arrive at the remote and peaceful Ouzina Desert, a wild and untouched region of golden dunes and red rock. Dinner and overnight in a kasbah surrounded by silence and stars.
Day 4: Ouzina – Merzouga →Rissani → Tinghir → Todra Gorges → Dades Valley
After breakfast, we leave Ouzina and head back toward civilization, passing through the desert towns of Rissani and Alnif, stopping along the way for photos and market visits. Rissani’s traditional souk is a treasure trove of spices, textiles, and history—it was once the trading hub of ancient Sijilmassa.
Next, travel to the lush oasis of Tinghir, where you’ll meet a local guide for a walk along the palm groves and irrigation canals. You’ll learn about Berber-Jewish heritage, silver craft traditions, and daily rural life. The highlight of the day is the spectacular Todra Gorge, where towering limestone cliffs rise up to 400 meters above the valley floor—a paradise for rock climbers and nature lovers.
Your day ends in the Dades Valley, known for its unusual rock formations and lush terraces. Check into your charming guesthouse or hotel, where dinner and a restful evening await.
Day 5: Dades Valley → Ouarzazate → Ait Ben Haddou → Atlas Mountains → Marrakech
After breakfast, we continue along the Valley of the Roses, especially fragrant in spring when the Damascus roses are in bloom. In the village of Kelaat M’Gouna, you may stop to visit a rose distillery, known for producing rose water and essential oils.
We then pass through the Skoura oasis, home to dozens of historic kasbahs, including the impressive Kasbah Amridil. Here, you can take a guided tour to learn about traditional Berber architecture, irrigation systems, and daily life in an oasis.
From Skoura, it’s a short drive to the iconic Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and popular filming location for classics like Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and The Mummy. Take a walk through its winding alleys and climb to the top for panoramic views.

Frequently Asked Questions: 5 Days from Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour
Contact & Booking:
How can i book the 5 Days from Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour?
You can book the tour by contacting us. It is not possible to book directly for different reasons. First, we are specialized in private tours; therefore, we need to check if you would like to book the tour as it is or you have special requirements. Second, the price varies from one situation to another. Consequently, we need to give you the full details before you book. These are the main reasons why we like to contact us first.
Why there is no one price for the 5 Days from Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour?
There is no one price because the tour is not a shared tour. The price varies based on the number of travelers, the type of accommodations, the itinerary…etc. for example, the price of 4 people traveling together will be cheaper than the price of two people. The reason behind that is that the 4 people share the car, the driver, and the guides, so logically the price per person will be cheaper. In addition, the type of accommodation also influences the price. A traveler asking for 5-star hotels will pay more than someone asking for 3 stars… Normally, we calculate the costs of each service before we deliver our quotation.
